On Thursday at the Playstation Meeting 2011, in Tokyo, Sony officially announced the successor to the PSP, the PSP2.
Some of the features of the new handheld include:
- Front and back cameras
- 3G, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, and GPS radios
- Has three-axis accelerometer, three axis gyroscope, both motion sensors are used in the Playstation Move
- A quad-core PowerVR SGX543MP4+ GPU
- Boasts a multitouch touchpad on the back of the device, that is the same size as the front screen
- The CPU is a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor: 7.17″ (width) × 3.29″ (height) × 0.73″ (depth)
- The system will be able to play PSP titles, PSP minis, PSOne Classics, videos and comics from the Playstation Store
PSP2 games won’t come on discs, but instead flash-memory cartridges that will hold not only the games themselves, but also the save files and add-on content.
